Bad to the End

You know, president Bush had absolutely nothing to lose in the lame duck session. Not a thing. His reputation is already tarnished beyond repair. His legacy — economic disaster, thousands of lives lost to questionable ends, torture, domestic surveillance, complete inaction on the dire threat of climate change — is set. His future in politics and business is non-existent. There is basically no reason that he couldn’t do whatever he wanted to do with his last few months.

He very easily could have asked Congress to send him a stimulus bill, even a modest one, amid an intensification of what will likely be the worst recession in thirty years, if not longer. It would have made a difference. It would have made the season a little more bearable for the growing numbers of unemployed, and it would have made Obama’s task a little less daunting.

Instead, he’s spending his waning days weakening environmental rules, helping his cronies get jobs in the professional bureacracy, and preparing his pardons. What a stupid, despicable man. History can’t judge him too cruelly.

Compassionate conservatism, clearly defined at last.

Well given his track record, if he did anything it would just make things worse, so his inaction is a blessing for us. You do have to consider that.

George Bush should fire Cheney, appoint Obama as VP then resign. It is absurd that we allow Bush to fiddle while Rome burns. If he cared one whit for America he would draw his disaster presidency to a close now and let the next president get started digging our way out of the disaster that was Bush 43!
Of course, he won’t. Last minute favors to hand out so he can get big contributions to his presidential library!

Well, if the environment would just get off its butt and do something useful for once, he wouldn’t have to hurt it like this.

You are too ignorant for words. Environmental regulations are a large reason why we ship so many jobs overseas and HAVE TO INTERVENE OVERSEAS TO GUARANTEE THE OIL FLOWS. We should be burning environmentalists - and the idiots who support them - for fuel. Morons like you are why this country is in such trouble. You know nothing…and understand even less.

Some troll types these ignorant words and calls someone else ignorant.

Nice post Ryan. Our country is melting around us and the tremendous void of leadership atop our government is killing our citizens.

Bitter about your electoral trouncing much, Volfie?

Saddened that America just showed you and your bankrupt philosophy the door?

    Addicted to oil, much?

“We should be burning environmentalists”, you said. ‘We should be burning people we disagree with’ is the essence.

Carful, Volfie; your inner Nazi is showing.

Maybe you could start by just burning some books that you don’t like, then work your way up to people you don’t like.

Oh, and be sure to run Palin/Huckabee in 2012.

    We’d sure appreciate it.

The only reason we ship jobs overseas is to make greater profits for international corporations who pay no taxes in the U.S. and who could care less about environmental regulations even when they are here.

If you think differently - prove it - moron!

Beg to differ. Well, not to ‘differ,’ but…

The Chimp’ll live his life out in the lap of (tax-payer funded) luxury, happily collecting 6-figure speaking fees from folks who “admire” him, wallowing in Secret Service protection…

Indeed, he should be pelted with rotten produce and offal wherever and whenever he appears. But it’s nagahapun.

The one thing I wish he’d do before leaving is close Guantanamo and set dangerous folk loose in the U.S. so Obama doesn’t have to. That’s a Bush disaster he can unwind more honorably than he made it.

  11. Voolfie Says:

John…Bubby…of course they ship jobs overseas to make more money; but they PRIMARILY ship them there BECAUSE THEY CAN’T MAKE ANY MONEY HERE!!!! Why? Because of environmental regulations, exorbitant labor costs and high taxes courtesy of people like Barack Obama. If even one of you is capable of understanding what I’m talking about…I’ll be quite impressed. Ask yourselves why these companies didn’t ship jobs overseas 50 years ago when it would have been even cheaper…so that they would have made even MORE money. Ask yourselves why FOREIGN companies that don’t have to deal with unions or previously imposed health-care plans, or all the regulations that U.S. companies have to deal with here at home…can come here, set up shop and - like Toyota - do quite well, thank you very much. Willful ignorance is a very good definition of stupidity…and y’all got it in spades! -V
