Stimulus

I have to say, it’s really amazing to see the wave of public intellectual criticism Obama’s potential stimulus plan, based on:

1) the notion that the stimulus items presented in his speech yesterday, which he characterised as being just a few of the many things a bill would include, in fact constitute the whole of the program, and

2) the notion that Obama and the whole of his big, smart economic team haven’t considered that it takes a while to get a brand new infrastructure project off the ground.

I mean, I realize we’re used to assuming the worst about the chief executive, but come on. He’s not stupid.

Ryan, are you talking about ‘public intellectuals’ (do we even have any these days?) or pundits? Broder and Will are NOT ‘public intellectuals,’ nor are the rest of their tribe.

I was thinking more of Tyler Cowen at Marginal Revolution and Yves Smith at Naked Capitalism, who both have posts on this stuff today.
