Can we all agree that however one feels about the merits of gun-control, the District’s tightest-in-the-nation gun laws are unlikely to tell us much about the actual costs and benefits of gun control, seeing as we share a border with Virginia?

I think that’s not a bug, it’s a feature: All states are bordered by other states. One can purchase guns in West Virginia. Ohio. Delaware. Even (dare I say it?) Maryland. The problem of being able to drive to a less restrictive jurisdiction will be constant in gun-controlling states. So, no, I don’t agree.
