Bellows? What’s that?

I don’t suppose there’s any getting around it, now that Tom has fixed all the little site bugs (thank you, sir).

Welcome to The Bellows, internets.

This is not my first foray into personal online publishing, but it is my first go at it since becoming involved with DCist, where folks occasionally read what I wrote, forcing me to control the urge to erupt into unhinged partisan diatribes, as I often did in earlier Bellows incarnations. We’ll try to stick with that, here.

I can’t tell you what this will all be about, though, as I really don’t know myself. Maybe personal stuff. In the past few months, I’ve become engaged, gotten married, and decided to move to London (with the wife), leaving my job and the house I just bought, so you’d think I had a lot to work with here, but don’t be surprised if, instead, this blog becomes the onlineĀ locus for writing on the consumption decisions of 19th century textile workers (can be summed up neatly as beer v. potatoes).

Off we go, readers. Wish us luck.

Well, look who showed up on my sitemeter today. Which reminds me, it’s high-time I updated my old, dusty blogroll. I look forward to reading about 19th century textile workers…er, at least, about the beer.

Thanks guys. We’re still moving stuff around, getting the hang of this, but we’re quite flattered with the welcome and the attention.

Finally, I can write all the things about mule spinning I was never able to say on DCist.

I’m so glad we’ll have Ryan-y goodness to read when you… leave us all behind in a blaze of glory. Welcome to the delightfully less watch dog prone world of personal blogging.

i must join the chorus - i’m thrilled you’ve got your very own little blog. i actually think you were one of my last blog-holdout-friends, so i’m glad that’s changed. anyway, DCist will miss you, but i can’t say how much i look forward to reading what’ll go here.

    Potato Beer! Why choose?

I’m eager to hear speculation on how the mule ever did get that spinning wheel. And good luck!

[…] Today, the Bellows turns one. Has a year of personal blogging been all I’d hoped it would be? Um. […]
